A dark day in America

familycircusof3

I am saddened by the events of today, January 6th. I cannot believe a human being thinks destroying property is okay even if you are trying to make a statement. My brother works in D.C and I was terrified until I heard he was okay. I can't imagine how a family member of a first responder felt.

However, I am nauseated by comments individuals are making about the individuals who voted for the 45th President. Comments like, "you have to have half a brain if you like him" or "you have to be stupid to vote for him". First of all, half the country voted for him to make him president; it doesn't mean you like him but you felt he was the better of two evils. He was great for the economy. Thought is Clinton would have been awful, but who knows she might have been great. The immigrant situation is tough. Some don't believe he dealt with it well, others believe he did what he had to do. It all depends on your experiences and your belief.

I remember when he first won. Individuals were saying similar phrases, like "if you voted for him, you are an idiot!" First of all, there are many individuals who I adore who voted for both sides. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and ideals (even though I wasn't born here, I was taught that growing up.) Also, no matter who won both Iliana and I would still have had cancer. Whoever became the 45th president wouldn't have destroyed the terror that descended into our home and whoever took over that 'throne' wouldn't have eradicated the horror that we had to live through.

Please remember, you have every right to vote for whom you want to or feel how you want to feel (that is the perk of living in this country.) But remember when you call someone stupid for what he/she feels or thinks, remind yourself - you don't know what he/she has been through, you don't know why he/she feels/thinks the way he/she does and you haven't been in his/her shoes.
